Jogging

May 21st, 2009

A couple years ago, when I was last on WW, I had a goal to run a mile under 10 minutes on the treadmill. I hated the mile jog in high school because I always came in at 15 minutes. It was a stupid activity; just a way for teachers to teach gym class without having to do anything. There are ways to work on improving your time, but they never taught me that!

When I wanted to run under 10 minutes, I started with periods of running followed by walking and repeat. Each week, I would decrease the walking time and increase the running. I got it down to just above 9 minutes, if I remember correctly.

After I started going to the gym after having my baby, I wasn’t really interested in the treadmill. In fact, I made the excuse that I was too heavy to run, and procrastinated by saying that when I hit 220, I would do the mile again.

This morning, my weigh-in was 219.2. (Yay!)

I haven’t been going to the gym for a little more than a month. Somehow, I didn’t do it for one day and I found it hard to get back to it. It requires me to get up earlier in the morning and have everything I need for the day ready before I go to bed.

It’s already Thursday (can you believe it???) and Monday is a holiday. Would it be alright to use the weekend to get my act together for my return to the treadmill on Tuesday?

Speaking of this weekend, I have plans to work on my podcast. I let it fall to the wayside because of my vacation, but also because I hit a roadblock with finding a place to host it and provide an RSS feed for iTunes. My biggest fan, my husband, has been really looking into all this and thinks he has a solution. So if he can help me get that figured out, I’ll spend this weekend working on my podcast.
