This is the hardest weight loss scenario I’ve been in. And I can’t recall discussing it at any meetings: Staying as a guest at someone else’s house.
- Eating what they eat.
- When they eat it.
- Constant offers of food, at the meal and between meals.
- No lighter options available (ie fat-free, low-cal).
I didn’t realize these factors when I packed for our trip. Had I thought about it, I would have brought snacks for between meals. What else could I have done? Packed Italian dressing? So I am watching portions and kindly refusing offers for desserts and snacks. And I try to go on walks every so often.

I think what you are doing is great. It is tough to get out of your routine when traveling etc. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine. The walks are an extra plus.

That is hard. Do they know you joined Weight Watchers? In my case I had a similar problem when visiting my in laws, but i let them know that i had join weight watchers and that i had to count points. I explain that it didn’t mean i couldn’t eat regular food just that i had certain amount of points at day. Also, do you have a grocery store closed by? maybe you should take a walk there and discretely buy healthy snacks like pretzels and keep them on your purse, that way you can have a healthy snack before the meals and is easier not to eat much of the high points servings.
Take care,
